BELK Charity Days event – Nov 8th

“The Charity Sale is a private, four-hour sale dedicated to supporting local non-profit organizations.  Participating charities will have the opportunity to raise money for their organization by selling event tickets at $5 each and keeping 100% of ticket proceeds.  Ticket holders will receive 20% – 70% off of Belk purchases storewide, including special savings on rarely-discounted brands.  It is a win-win!  Belk’s two Charity Sale events in 2013 together raised more than $10 million for thousands of participating charitable organizations located in Belk’s 16-state market area.”

Cathy L. Miller

Executive Director

Beyond Abuse names new Executive Director

The Board of Directors for Beyond Abuse has announced that Cathy Miller has been appointed Executive Director.  In this role, she will be responsible for development, implementation, funding and overall management of the on-going operations of the organization.  The appointment was effective June 16th, 2014.  Additionally, Charlotte Ehney, who served as interim director will continue to lead the child advocacy center as well as take on an expanded role to include program enhancement, expansion and funding.

Mrs. Miller, a native of Laurens County, has lived in Greenwood for the past 32 years.  She has a diverse background with many years of experience that spans Corporate Finance and Accounting, Customer Service, Development, and Sales/Marketing.  She has worked for several local firms/organizations including Greenwood Mills, Fuji Photo Film, Wesley Commons, Capsugel, and Aaron Industries.

She stated, “ I am very excited to be a part of such a wonderful organization.  The time was right for me to return to the non- profit world and to give my time and service back to the community.  Greenwood has always been caring, giving and supportive of those in need.  I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.  Knowing that I can be a small part of the network of agencies that provide support for victims in the county where I grew up and the county where I now live, is a very fulfilling way to write the next chapter in my career. I am looking forward to establishing new relationships and rekindling old ones.”

Board president, Travis Dover, stated, “The Board cast a wide net in our search for the new Executive Director and realized that we had the perfect candidate right here in Greenwood.  She has tremendous management and leadership skills and will be an excellent addition to the superb staff at Beyond Abuse.”

Beyond Abuse, is located at 115 East Alexander Avenue in Greenwood, SC and offers support services for victims of sexual assault and child abuse in Greenwood, Abbeville, and Laurens counties.  For more information please email contact@beyondabuse.info or visit the website at www.beyondabuse.info
