Project Linus Blankets donated

Carol Scales, Chapter Coordinator for Project Linus, dropped off blankets for the child clients that need some additional comfort while receiving clinical services at the agency. All blankets are lovingly handmade by “Blanketeers” who generously donate their time, talents, and supplies.

The staff members at Beyond Abuse want to thank the “Blanketeers” for this wonderful gift!!

Ballentine Ford does it again!!! Sept. 18, 2018

Beyond Abuse was one of many local non profits to receive a very generous donation from Ballentine Ford today as part of their Charitable giving program.  Each year, a portion of each car sold in August is donated to a Charity designated by the customer.  We are very fortunate to have the support of Ballentine Ford as well as the community.

Staff participates in Sex Trafficking AwarenessTraining

Beyond Abuse staff participated in a very informative 2 hour training on Sex Trafficking on Friday Sept 14, 2018.  The training was conducted by SWITCH, a non profit based in Upstate SC.   The training focused on how to recognize red flags for human trafficking, how to report suspected human trafficking cases, and how to respond with appropriate resources to individuals who have experienced sexual exploitation.

SWITCH’S mission is to fight human trafficking and sexual exploitation in the Upstate of South Carolina through awareness, prevention, fighting demand, intervention and restoration.

Eaton makes donation for medical equipment Sept 2018

Eaton Corporation recently awarded the agency a grant to purchase medical equipment for the new satellite office located in Clinton, SC.  The addition of a medical examination room will allow the agency to provide a full range of services in Laurens County including child maltreatment medical exams and better serve victims of child abuse.  Medical exams are provided through a partnership with Greenville Health Systems.

Staff attend training with focus on LGBTQ survivors

SCCADVASA’s Nyomi Guzman, Prevention & Inclusion Specialist and Cory France, Communications Coordinator recently conducted onsite training for Beyond Abuse staff, volunteers, and interns on providing best practice and inclusive services to LGBTQ+ Survivors of sexual assault.  During the training attendees participated in open discussion and activities to introduce appropriate pronouns and terminology.

3rd annual Outreach Event – A HUGE success!!

The agency hosted its 3rd annual outreach event (funded by EATON) on Aug 16th at Magnolia Park.  Approximately 150 children and their parents ended the summer with inflatable rides, games, music, hotdogs, hamburgers, popcorn, & ice cream!!

Various agencies were on hand to share information on services provided to the community including Cornerstone, United Way, Megs House, Law Enforcement, GWD 50 Early Child Center, & Nurse Family Partnership.

A big Thank You to Law Enforcement for their active participation!!!!.

GWD50 Back to School kick off – Aug 14,2018

Agency Education staff participated in GWD 50’s annual back to school kick off and celebration at Emerald High School.  Staff sported school colors and cheered on the bands at GHS and EHS.  Local dignitaries were also present.

Beyond Abuse is grateful to GWD50 for the positive and supporting working relationship and allowing staff to present age appropriate programs to students as well and mandated reporter training to staff.
