A tribute to Laura Kazee 1956 – 2016
We are deeply saddened at the agency over the sudden death of Laura Kazee, our Director of HR and Finance. Laura has been with Beyond Abuse since May of 2008. We will miss you Laura!
Abusive Relationship workshop held Sept 28 2016
Victim Services Manager, Elizabeth Wise (far right), recently participated in a Panel Discussion at the Upper Savannah SC Works Job Fair. The workshop was titled: What Can I do if I am in an Abusive Relationship. The Fair was held on September 28th.
Wells Fargo donates to agency Sept 2016
Beyond Abuse was honored to be selected as a recipient of a $1000 donation from Greenwood’s Crosscreek Branch of Wells Fargo. The agency was one of 40 non profits selected across the upstate as part of Wells Fargo’s Upstate Community Connections Program.

Ballentine Ford did it again!!!!

We have gone Tobacco Free!!! Sept 8th, 2016
The Board of Directors recently approved a new policy that prohibits the use of tobacco products on the campus in order to promote a healthier environment for our staff and clients. Elaine Morton, Client Services Coordinator, is pictured below installing the new sign at the entrance to the campus.
GMFCU makes donation to agency 9/8/16
Samantha Byrd with The Greenwood Municipal Federal Credit Union stopped by the agency today and surprised Laura Kazee, Director Finance with a donation. The donation was made possible through GMFCU’s Skip a Payment program. A big heartfelt thanks to our friends at GMFCU!!!!
NewSpring Church volunteers make a HUGE impact! Aug 27, 2016
About 20 NewSpring Church volunteers spent hours at the agency completing a community service project as part of their #FORSC day held Saturday Aug 24,2016. Team members tore out old worn carpet and replaced it with new wood laminate flooring as well as replaced broken floor tiles, installed new light fixtures, laid stepping stones, as well as trimmed the shrubs and trees…. What an amazing difference. Everything looks great. We cannot express enough thanks to this hard working group of individuals and to NewSpring for organizing this community service day.

Child waiting room gets new furniture
Check out our new furniture in the child waiting room!!! Not only did we replace the sad worn out chairs, we increased capacity by 50%.

Hispanic Outreach a huge success
Beyond Abuse received a grant from Eaton Corporation to support our efforts to increase awareness of the services that we offer to the Hispanic community. The grant allowed us to translate agency flyers, brochures, forms…. into Spanish, have them printed and then sponsor outreach events to provide this information. Due to our ongoing working relationship with La Puerta de Esperanza , we knew that they offered a free soccer camp to Hispanic children each summer. This camp is provided by the coaches/staff of our local Toros soccer organization. Outreach staff, headed by Charlotte Ehney and supported by Brandon Platt and Jennifer Azzarano, coordinated with these two groups and asked if we could somehow be a part of the current event instead of trying to create a separate event. Hence, the idea for us to host a Family Fun Day at the conclusion of the camp. We had a great turnout with about 140 people. The children demonstrated their soccer skills while enjoying other fun activities. see pictures below. Other non profit agencies, Community Initiatives and Healthy Learners, joined in as well to share information about their services. Self Regional’s Mobile Health unit as well as Greenwood City Fire Department and the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Dept drug dog were also on site and joined in the fun. This is a great example of how our supporting agencies partner here in Greenwood. A big thanks to everyone for making this event a huge success!
