Self Regional Healthcare Awards Agency $103,000
Self Regional Healthcare Announces $268,770 in Community Grants
Santa Claus came a little early to five local nonprofit organizations working to improve the health and wellbeing of the community.Self Regional Healthcare has awarded $268,700 in its latest round of community improvement grants, which will:
- Provide AEDs (automatic external defibrillator) to public places that may need a way to respond to a heart-related emergency
- Help a local outreach organization begin offering preventive care health services
- Maintain the facility that houses the Soup Kitchen, Clinica Gratis, United Way and other critical access agencies
- Help provide treatment for children and adults of sexual violence and abuse
- Assist bilingual/bicultural patients who require healthcare services including diabetes management, medical referrals and mental health screening and counseling.
The five local organizations receiving community outreach funding:
- Community Initiatives, Inc./Clinica Gratis — $40,000
- Beyond Abuse — $103,000
- Self Regional’s Heart and Vascular Community Outreach — $16,020
- Greater Greenwood United Ministry — $64,750
- United Center for Community Care — $45,000
With these grants, the amount of community funding Self Regional has provided in 2014 totals $858,200. The Community Outreach committee, which consists of community and business leaders, physicians, and representatives from Self Regional, consider proposal requests and make decisions on funding.
